I have been mia the past few days because I was on a mission .. a self- appointed mission that is. The perfect winter coat because lets face it we are living in SEATTLE! Its the one piece of clothing that will get the most use out of our closet.

FIRST REPEAT THIS: JUST BECAUSE YOU WEAR IT EVERYDAY DOESNT MEAN THAT IT SHOULD BE PRACTICAL OR BASIC !!!!

It should be something you look forward to putting on everday. When you put on something it doesnt matter if its a piece of jewelery, a hat or a pair of earrings. It should make you feel special not practical, average or basic.

So dont be afraid to make a statement.

I would venture to say that the most money you will drop on any item this season is your coat. There's alot to take into account. If you are like me and take the bus warmth is a priority. That does not mean that style has be compromised. If you are fortunate to go from home to car, car to office and then car back to home then you have a little more lee way with the warmth - lucky you!

So back to the task at hand. I never commit to the first coat I fall in love with because most likely there will be a coat that I love just as much in the next store.Thats whats wonderful about clothing there are options. So if you find yourself attracted to military, fur,leather,plaid, ruffles, studded, a rainbow of colors and the classic black coat - its all out there and its all game.

Note:I would usually forbid anyone who shops with me to buy Black, isnt Seattle grey enough!! But if you are keeping up with the trends black is not only the classic choice this season its the must have. Black is all the rage in clothing and make- up but thats a completely different post.


FIT: If I am being general here and lets face it this is a blog and long posts are a total turn off. The most flattering look is one that emphasizes your waist and is just above or just below the knee. If you go any lower it makes the look a little more formal if you go any higher than that it makes it more casual so I call this a good middle ground. Also the fit is important, you dont want it to be too loose, the coat will lose its structure and only make you look boxier.


A RULE I live by I never get rid of coats, I know the cylce of Fashion what goes around comes back around. So one coat that wont work one season will most likely be in fashion the next season or two.
