There has been an abundance of whimsical characters in the fashion world lately. You can find them on the runways of fashion week or in the pages of your favorite magazine. Its really no secret that fantasy plays a huge part in fashion, it inspires. I haven't seen anyone walk around in a full costume (well only on Halloween), but if you look closely the are hints and impressions of fantasy and fairytales everywhere you look.

My favorite fairytale was the story of Snow White, mostly because my mother used to refer to me as her Snow White. I had the pale skin and dark hair and as a little girl I used to watch that movie over and over again, so it holds a place in my heart.

This past week and because of the influx of fantasy popping up, I started to think about Snow White and what her style sense would be now.

If I was to put a label on her, I think she would lean towards the bohemian chic side. In the movie, nature is her only refuge from her evil step mother and I think her love of flowers and animals would be reflected in what she wore. We can not forget that she was also a Princess, so her coat and her jewelry would hint at that. I especially love the ring, because it has this child like quality, that makes you think that it was a gift from her father before he died.

Geese my imagination does run a little wild doesn't it.

Luckily, I am not the only one in the blogging world that gets carried away. Check out Dramtise Personae's post about the way the CIRCUS influences her. It's fantastical!

Which Fairytale inspires you?

The story of Baba Yaga. My wife and I are working on a musical around it! Nice blog!

Though I'm not sure it's necessarily a fairy tale, I really do enjoy Alice in Wonderland for inspiration. There's just so many ways to interpret it and bring it in to one's wardrobe.

I've always loved the Little Mermaid as a story (maybe it's the Cancer in me), and while I think there are lots of romantic ways to wear it in one's wardrobe, I'm not sure I could pull it off...
