TREND DEBATE: ED WESTWICK MAKING CHEST HAIR SEXY, DO YOU AGREE?

Photobucket

Whenever the chest hair debate came up there was always a chorus of "ewwwws" that followed, but lately I have noticed that the "ewwws" are not as loud and opinionated as they used to be. Could there be a change of heart? Has Ed Westwick's blatant display made the ladies give up their fight and join the "hair on the chest does a body good" side?

The image above is undoubtedly sexy. No wonder its the staple image that has graced billboards, editorials and ad campaigns. I am not saying that this is wrong and unjust. But why has the chest hair been labeled as lazy, gross and not fit to adorn fashionable outlets?

I know that men have had chest hair before Ed Westwick, but lately it just seems as if the issue has come to the forefront, because of him. He's made no effort to hide it and the paps, who chronicle his every step, have been pushing his chest hair in our faces!!!

I just couldn't ignore it any longer.

I was never really a fan of chest hair, in fact I was the loudest among the chorus of "ewwws"!!! Now I find myself amused and even attracted to it. I think it also has to do with the fact that Ed has no shame. I mean the man tears his shirts!!!! Is it because his sexiness is suffocating or is it because he's taking a stand? He's giving men who have been imprisoned by high collared shirts a voice...... a choice.

Will this start a wave of men tearing their shirts, claiming their liberation or is Ed on his own? Will you still be a voice in the chorus of "ewwws"?

NOTE: This is what happens when I am bored and in one of my silly moods!

I feel like shaved chests or hairless chests on men are kind of the equivalent of women shaving/waxing their girl bits. Overall, when bare, it kind of relates to youthfulness-- ie I'm too young to have body hair. So by embracing it, he's like, 'Yeah ladies, I AM legal (unlike the character I play on tv).'

ohhh,.... yeah, it doesn't bother me... i think men should be comfortable with their male attributes. believe it or not they get insecure about body stuff too...

I agree with Ashe...plus I've just never been into the completely hairless look on guys. It makes me feel awkward! Not to say that I like someone with a shag-carpet chest either. I think there is a happy medium and that's my favorite place to be!

Hey lovely. A little late, but congratulations on having done more than 200 entries! *hugs*

I don't know, but it looks like he is comfortable with his chest hair! I am not eww'ing, but I prefer a guy with not so much chest hair, but hey, there are other factors to fall for. lol!

HAHA! I love your answers, I agree.. I like the happy medium, but I also think its great to see a man own it. They totally are self conscious, just like we are!!

I have always thought chest hair is sexy except when I was a kid. When I was 18, hairless chests were fine because I was dealing with boys. Boys are non-threatening. Now I want a man, not a boy!

WendyB - You're a woman that knows what she wants, thats for sure! LOL!

Chest hair is hot, but only in small doses. Ed Westwick has a small amount of chest hair, actually the right amount of chest hair. Anything more would be bearlike. Hairless chest are ok too. I just don't care for the bear.

This shouldn't even be a topic for discussion.
Men have chest hair! Period.

This guy obviously has a strong personality and self-confindence and he's not eager to become a pin-up, waxed boy. Hail to manly chest hair!

a little chest hair is okay, if you ask me.

Alix, this post is such a wacky awesome Monday post, love it, made me lol. Chest hair is fine in person, but for some reason, in public personas I prefer not to see it. The worst is chest stubble. Oh lord, please no.

My ex used to shave his chest and it just... didn't look good on him.. And don't get me started on the chest stubble! My current BF has chest hair and I think it's sexy. And Ed up there, rocks it. Mmm in a very very sexy way!
