QUESTION: WHERE DO YOU GO TO CLEAR YOUR THOUGHTS? OR IS THAT ONLY IN THE MOVIES?

Lazy Sundays are always the best, especially if you can shake off the guilt. So,I wasn't going to post today, but then I found some beautiful images and it made me curious, so I decided to put them up along with a question. Do you have a special place, like bench at a park, a secluded waterfall or somewhere that you just go to, to find peace?

Does this sound like a weird thing to ask? Lately I have been having a hard time sleeping, so I've been watching a lot of movies and the main character always seems to have a place, a hidden place that they go to in order to clear their thoughts.

In 500 days of Summer, he has that park bench that he sits at to look at the skyline, in The Saint she sits in that small gallery to speak to the statue. In other movies they use rooftops, boat docks, under construction buildings and the list does go on.

Maybe its just a note in a memo that all screenplay writers got, but if it's not, where do you go to get away from it all?

I don't have any fields like this around me, but in the summer I would go to the beach.. no wifi, just music and the sun.

I think am going to start looking in the city for a spot that I can go to just get away from it all or just to read a book. Any suggestions?

The top floor of the Tate Modern in London!!
The perfect place for you and your thoughts with the most beautiful backdrop of the city.

This is a good question, and the amazing photos really made me think about it and be jealous of how beautiful those potential thought-spots are! There's a trail near our house that's woodsy and lovely to take the dog on long walks. When I'm there, I feel like it's quiet enough to let the thoughts feel comfortable to let their voices be heard.

Style - What better way to contemplate anything then with the beautiful London skyline staring back at you. Sounds like an awesome place, thanks for sharing!

Jaunty -I know these photos made me jealous too. That's why it totally made me make this post.
We are lucky enough to have some nice trails in Seattle and it sounds like you have a special one!

i wish that was me in that top photo. unsurprisingly we don't have that sort of landscape in nyc, but taking a walk anywhere is my "spot". but it is hard to break away from this internet centric life we are in.

Hey Alix, it was great meeting you at the Blog Meet Blog event at BoConcept. There are three Seattle parks I like for clearing my head:

Discovery Park (beautiful trails) http://www.seattle.gov/parks/environment/discovparkindex.htm

Volunteer Park (open grass fields perfect for lounging and reading books or flying a kite and there is a free indoor exotic plant garden too) http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=399

Carkeek Park (beautiful white sand beach perfect for seashell hunting) http://www.seattle.gov/parks/environment/Carkeek.htm

when i need to get away from the world and think, i go down to the olympic sculpture park close to belltown and either sit underneath the red ampersand or walk down to the little beach area and just stare out at the water

Love this post! great photos. Personally, I don't have to go far to clear my mind...hop on my bicycle and ride 40-50 miles...the pain is a pretty great mind-clearing device. If that doesn't work...to the bars! LOL.

Great question. The place where I get away from it all is bed. I'm serious! Life gets so hectic I often shortchange myself on sleep during the week. It's a luxury to sleep in on weekends and lie there in my pajamas, maybe watch a movie or read a book.

I got a park on the outskirts or my town/city called Aqua Caliente. There are no playgrounds just a bunch of trees, a big pond and tons of grass. There is hardley ever anyone there and the weather right now is amazing.

Every Little - Love the fact that you claim the city as your own, thats a nice feeling.

Copy Strands it was nice meeting you as well. Sadly enough Ive never been to any of these places, they are now on my list. Thank you!

Dj - I love the sculpture park, great choice!

Le21eme - 40-50 miles, say what? Yeah I would go to the bars instead too. Lol!

Lisa - That sounds perfect. I like to sleep in bed too, but the itch to pick up my computer or phone is so tempting. But when they are both off its a perfect place to be. Nice!

Taylor - Yoga, I need to start that!!

YP - That does sound amazing!!!

I think that mine is in the shower!! That or parked on my bed watching TV, though that wouldn't exactly "clear my thoughts" so I just just the shower:)

the beach is on my block so I'll go there or to my guitar or a bath. :-) I like to visualize floating in space, that is a good place too.
