Is this a flashback to high school for you? It is for me. Yes, I wasn't allowed to wear jeans to school, but on free dress days I would rock something like this. I thought I was so cool because I was one of the first girls to do it.
I think back and realize this was before skinny jeans and it must have been a rumpled mess, but hindsight is 20/20!
Do you think this trend will be coming back? It's still too cold in Seattle, May looks like October right about now. I want to wear dresses and even though I still wear my tights with them, its starting to make me feel that winter has gone on for a year.
I don't know if jeans will change that. Will you be tossing the leggings to the side and rocking the jeans!?

This is a tricky trend. I have seen this look great on some and bomb on others.
I agree there are a lot of factors you have to consider to make this work.
Hey hon! I personally don't think it looks good on me because I'm short. If anything, I go with leggings over jeans. Bec wears dresses with jeans but I think hers are too long to wear with jeans. :) Hope you can still come to my party! xo, Mel
I'm not really feeling this trend at all. It may look good on long legged women but definitely not flattering for the shorter ones.
this is a really difficult one to pull off! I often think it looks strange and frumpy. but this picture looks pretty cool xx
I always used to do this in high school too, but I won't be doing it now. It usually kind of looks like someone got dressed in the dark to me haha
Last winter I used to wear jeans with dresses.. They were black jeans though. But I managed to get through this winter wearing only leggins & dresses, though it was sometimes even colder than -20°C. I don't think jeans would make feel it much warmer..
If you want, you can wear dresses & jeans.. Who cares what's trendy now! And someone has to start bringing the trends back too, so why wouldn't it be you if you like!
I wouldn't wear jeans with dresses.. Jeans are soo uncomfortable, I wouldn't wear them even without dresses anymore.. :)
absolutely not. this is the only trend i truly can't stand. it looked terrible in middle school & it looks just as ridiculous now. pick one or the other. that's what jeggings are for (& even now i can't believe i'm saying 'jeggings')
Doesn't really do it for me. Waste of a good dress AND good pair of jeans.
honestly, I am loving this. can't wait to try it out!!!
will definitely cite you in my post as inspiration!!
I agree with 100% on the high school (ok maybe middle school) vibe. I sported that look a lot then but I am not totally against doing it now. It might be just a touch too Bohemian for my current style. However, there is something totally gratifying about layering your clothes looking like you don't care what anyone thinks!
happy belated bday by the way! (mine is on the 12th, hooray for the Taurus!)

This can look good on the right girl with the right dress and almost by accident like a summer's night bbq when you throw your jeans under your hot dress to stay warm.....
This is really not an easy look unless your a tall amazonian woman, one could end up looking terribly confused.

Hmmm...I see potential in this. I really like the photo you provided. Will have to try it to know for sure though. Can you tell I'm mentally shuffling through my closet at the moment? lol.
I never cared for this look... it only looked great on people who look great in anything!
That's an automatic no for me! I thought this was rockin when I was in junior high but boy was I wrong. No matter how purposeful you try to make it look I think it always looks confused. But I really wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing it mastered and flaunted in high fashion. I'm from Seattle too and all this moody weather really is a tease when you're dyeing to bust out your summer wardrobe. I'm layering my dresses with laced leggings and knee-high socks!
That would be a no from me. Heh! I almost never wear jeans, and this would make me feel so out of place. But I have seen few people pull it off... they are usually tall! lol.
I think maybe it should be left to the models!
Great blog!

If I wear jeans under dresses, they are SUPER skinny. Otherwise, I stick to leggings these days. I think if you can rock them, kudos, but I don't think I'd be able to pull of what the model is wearing.
Hope you had a super fabulous and fun birthday!! Sorry for my belated wishes!
xo, becs
Yes, it's very difficult to look good in jeans and dresses, but jeez -- what the heck are we supposed to do in the Pac NW, especially in the country?!? Jeans under dress is very Barn to Evening.
