Having the perfect coat can easily help bring together an outfit after being on a plane for the majority of the day. I didn't have a chance to go home and change before I attended a baby shower. I had planned on going home for a refresh, but sometimes plans don't work out.
Thankfully, I'm an over packer. I was able to pair a black peplum, some dark bootcut jeans with black booties. I had also packed my jewelry for my trip, so I had a lot to choose from. But something was missing.. it didn't feel dressy enough, it just felt off.
Then I remembered I had this Rachel Roy coat. How could I forget? We had some sunny days in Seattle, I had come from sunny LA, this coat is more for the chilly side of the weather.
It was raining in Seattle, so it was a perfect time to wear it.
It completed my look.
I fell in love with this coat, not only for the print, but the fit. It kinda feels like you're putting on a sleeping bag, the way it hugs you as you zip it closed. Also, the pockets didn't make the coat feel bulky, that's always a plus. I had actually tried on this coat at Macy's and walked away. But I was back the next day because I couldn't stop thinking about it.
A coat is a marvelous thing and yes, I have a soft spot for coats. But having a dressy coat to wear when you're trying to put together an outfit out of suitcase is paramount. It took my otherwise usual attire from an everyday to a special event. The worse thing is sitting in a room full of people uncomfortable with what you're wearing.
It's amazing how one article of clothing can take you anywhere, even from the airport to a baby shower.
