Last week, I was invited to check out the new Nike Running store in University Village. It's pretty inside and out, but the coolest thing about it is how community driven it is. Have you ever seen a retail space have lockers?
The running store is completely dedicated to runners. The lockers provide the running club that meets every Wednesday at 6:30pm a place to put their stuff. No excuses. They will also be offering unique services such as digital gait analysis, footwear trials and more.
Ladies, they will be offering hemming, custom bra fitting and styling.
Are you thinking it's too dark to run? Well, then you'll have to check out the new Shield Flash line. You pretty much glow in the dark. I really didn't mean for the photo below to happen, but the glass beaded exterior produces 360 degrees of 400-candlepower was just too strong for the camera.
This jacket is currently my favorite thing, but I fell in love a few times over with all of the goodness they have in the store.
Only the 15th store of its kind in the US, Nike out does itself. It's made up of recycled/reclaimed materials and has been designed to optimize energy efficiency. It's registered with the U.S. Green Building Council and is anticipating LEED® Gold Certification.
Every corner of the store has been well thought out. It pays tribute to the local community with photography from running hot spots around the area, and celebrates the inspiration of local runners by posting their bibs along the community wall. It's a mix of technology, run gear and green - perfect for Seattle.
I will be definitely visiting the running store again.. for Christmas gifts for my runner loved ones and maybe a few little things for me.
