A Fancy Door Opens: The Story of When I Rented a Desk for a Month.

I've spent a lot of time in a cubicle, an  office or a coffee shop. I've been lucky to have the opportunity to work out of  all three, but there was one way of working that I always wanted to experience. I wanted to rent a desk at a work space. A few years ago, I visited my friend David at We Work, a cool place where anyone looking for a place to work can rent a desk. I was instantly a little envious and added "working from a work space" to my bucket list.

I never thought I would have the opportunity.
In December, I found myself talking to my friend Cassie about needing to get out of my house. I had been working in my pajamas for three weeks and I wasn't getting anything done. If I hadn't said anything I don't know that  my wish of working out of a work space would have come true.
She happened to have an available desk for the month of January. I instantly said I would take it.

4 REASONS WHY I LOVED IT
1. Accountability.
After being accountable to others about what time and where I should work, it was all up to me. . I knew that this decision was the best way for me to make each day count. I could have easily saved money and just worked from home, but I knew I would get distracted. So, I was going to keep myself accountable, by being at the office at noon everyday. I wasn't perfect, sometimes I wasn't there till 1pm and sometimes I didn't go but it always had to be for a good reason.

2. Your Space Inspires you.
The big windows, the wood floors and the brick walls made me fall in love with it. I loved being there. The personality of my surroundings always inspires me.

3. Creative People.
I was often alone in the big space, but the people who rented the other desks were also creatives. So conversations about what they were up to were always very interesting.

4. Getting Work Done.
This is where I got work done. It wasn't my apartment where I was always reminded that I had other tasks to get done. It wasn't a coffee shop, where I felt guilty for being there for more than 3 hours. It was somewhere I went to in order to get things done. So, it's no surprise that I was always super productive.

Why am I only doing it for the month of Jan?
I happen to be out of town for most of Feb, so it didn't make sense for me to extend it. But maybe in March.
