When I first started my blog I had no intention of sharing personal style photos. I was content to stay behind the scenes and just share my thoughts on the latest and greatest trends. But there was another reason... I suffered from acne that made me self-conscious.
During that time I was living up to the definition of a girl on the go; I was going to school, interning, working, blogging, doing homework and trying to have a social life. Needless to say, I wasn't eating or sleeping like I should have been and my skin showed it.
It wasn't until I finished school and moved back to Seattle I was able to take my life on the go and have one of balance and routine. The biggest change was my diet. I was drinking more water and eating greens with every meal. My skin didn't change overnight, but I started to notice small changes. The more I ate my greens, the better I slept which means I had more energy to exercise and the better not only my skin became, but my whole body started to feel healthier and not so self-conscious.
I know we all know diet is important, but it's one of the first things that suffers when we're so busy. That's why I am a fan of Organic Girl; my life is less balanced and more on the go these days, so it's critical that I use my time efficiently. It's amazing how much time you get back when your greens are pre-washed and easy to put away. But the most important thing is that I know am eating quality organic greens in packaging that is recyclable.
A few weeks ago my life got even a little crazier; I was working overtime, I was planning Stylish In Seattle and trying to do all of the million things make up life. Organic girl was kind enough to send me some salad packages and salad dressing. Their timing couldn't have been better. I believe it's even more important to have a healthy diet before vacation. The stress of it all can affect not only your skin but your overall health.
3 Ways Green Means Clean Skin
- Staying hydrated helps promote the transport of nutrients to your cells and removal of toxins away from skin cells. Choosing high water content foods such as fruits and vegetables - including dark green leafy greens - can help you meet your water needs and promote optimal skin health.
- Including greens as part of a well-balanced diet can help fight inflammation. Free radicals cause damage in your body, but including antioxidant-rich foods like green leafy vegetables protects against oxidative damage caused by free radicals, keeping you beautiful inside and out!
- Green leafy vegetables contain vitamin K, an important fat soluble vitamin that helps your body transport and utilize fat. Fat is a good thing when it comes to physical appearance, as adequate fat intake promotes healthy hair, skin and nails.
