PLEASE FILL OUT THE POLL - I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

I never thought I would say this, but I am looking for an apartment in which I will live alone. I could have sworn 5 yrs ago that I would never be in this place. As a social person I’ve always loved having roommates, thankfully Ive had good luck in that department. But now am at that age where I really want a space of my own. Little did I know how exciting this can be..

I’ve been skimming some of my favorite interior design blogs, magazine sites and online window shopping like crazy. I get more and more excited and inspired every day. I am not looking to move until October, but as a person who could pack everything she owns – well not the clothes – in a few bags I am really trying to figure out what my home style is..I would like to share this with you.

So what do you think of one post a week of my quest to find out what my home style is? Fill out the poll and let me know. Even though its my name at the top I like to think that this is our blog and I want to know what you think!

NO DRESS, NO SHOES, NO PARTY!!!!

Photobucket

I think my drama queen tendencies are coming out in full effect. Am trying not to panic, but my birthday party is this Saturday and I still haven't found theeeee dress. It's too late to order anything online and besides I can't find anything in the color I have been fascinated with.. the pink/purple combo- fuchsia!

Photobucket

This is a color that I will not only be wearing for my birthday party (hopefully) but I will be definitely be wearing it this summer.

Cross you fingers, thank you for the suggestions on where to look. I haven't made it to all of the places so there's still hope!

WHAT DOES YOUR ONLINE WISH LIST SAY ABOUT YOU?

That when I wish I don't limit myself. There's no box you can put me in, when I like something I don't think about what image am trying to portray! Which is a contradiction to a dream I had last night, but when you wish list you're not really thinking about anything, you're just wishing. Nothing else is so freeing! So what do you find out about yourself when you're adding items to your wish list?

When it comes to dress shopping my personality is split. I go from neighborhood darling to party girl! I guess most women have those two sides to themselves.. we cant exactly be sexy on the outside all of the time.. and we don't always want to be seen as a goody two shoes. Oh what a fine line we walk!

A fine, but fun line. These are some of the dresses I added to my wish list from LuLu's and Filthy Magic. Thank you to my commentors who introduced me to these sites!

What have you learned about yourself from your online wish lists?

OH THIS, ITS JUST MY NEW HAIR!

Photobucket

I was thinking of going shorter, but am glad I stopped where I did, this is a great length. I can still pull it back for softball and its never had so much volume. I finally gave into the layer trend. I had a few layers in my last cut, but very little and now I wonder what took me so long.

Can you guess how many inches I took off?

Thanks so much to Angela from Seven Salon!

TODAY'S THE DAY! HAIR TODAY, MAYBE GONE TODAY!

It maybe because I watch Sheer Genius on a regular basis, but I have been dying to get a hair cut. I've had my hair long and straight forever, last September I added a little bit of layering. I was hesitant so it barely looked like I did anything to it. Well today is a different day and I feel like having fun.

My birthday is in May and this year feels great so all the more reason to have a little fun with my hair. In case you have forgotten what I look like now, here's a pic. At 6pm today I don't know what I will look like... but am excited!

The inspiration collage is what am thinking, but when I sit in that chair today.. who knows!

Also do you like the collage? That's new and I might be doing something like that a little more often.

Happy Sunday!

UPDATE: I will not be getting my hair cut today. I play catcher on a co-ed softball team and I got hit square in the mouth/nose, by a ball that clipped the bat. I passed out, but I got an ok from the paramedics, nothing broken. My mouth and nose are swollen, I also have a headache but I should be feeling and looking better in the days to follow. Haircut postponed till next weekend.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: I feel much better and have an appointment scheduled for later today, excited!

STRAIGHT FROM THE JEWEL BOX: THE RING EDITION!

My mom came home with this ring and gave it to me as a surprise. I love it, it's one of my favorite shapes.

This was a gift from my dad, he said he saw it and thought I would like it. It's better looking in person, but it instantly became a favorite, sentiment and style wise.

I can't remember where I got this, but it's all twisty and sometimes I forget I have it on. It's just too comfortable.

I've posted this a few times before, but I wear it all the time.. so it makes sense to share it again!

Just thought I would give you a peek into my ring collection. You've probably realized how I roll.. do it big or go home!!!

NEW YEARS EVE STATE OF MIND: MISSION ACCOMPLISED - HAIR AND OUTFIT!

Happy New Years to All! I hope it was fabulous. I had a great time and rang in the New Year with some great friends and that's what counts. I, of course have been writing up a series on the blog called a New Years Eve State of Mind dealing with different aspects of what to take into account when putting together the perfect outfit. So I thought it was only fair to show my party dress.

The most risk I took was with my hair. I had posted some hair style inspirations and this one was the one that stood out to me. I did not want my blah every day straight hair and thanks to the new hot spot hair style bar in Seattle, Swink Style Bar ,I was able to take my inspiration and make it a reality. Thank you Abigail! It lasted all night and when I took it out in the morning it was a glorious mess of curls.

So I have to admit that Gold was never a part of the plan. But that's the beauty of imagning the perfect outfit, it sometimes doesnt go exactly as planned. I knew that I wanted something festive and when I walked into my favorite boutique KiKi Corona and there it was...ta da! Of course I did go and look at other places, but just came back to this one.

It was a little over the top, but this is the last holiday for awhile that gives you that crazy over the top allowance.

Next up Closet resolutions!!

GASP! AN OUTFIT POST: MY BLAZER, NON-JEGGINGS AND MY WHERE STUDDED BOOTS!

Just in case you're forgetting what I look like I thought I would post an outfit. What I learned from this outfit is to never say never. This is the only turtle neck sweater in my closet and the only reason I kept it is because my grandma gave it to me. Surprisingly enough I don't feel like am about to die when I wear it, which is often the case with turtlenecks. It's actually really warm, but with the short sleeves it's a perfect fit under my blazer.

In the cold weather you would think I would want a heavy blazer, but I have a long coat that is form fitting so the tank top, the sweater and the blazer all fit nicely under it. I really don't want to look like a caramel apple when I head out, you know round layered top and skinny legginged legs. Not really a pretty look! :)

Speaking of leggings, I was estatic when I found a pair that resembled jeggings, but werent. I haven't had any jean leggings luck. When you have some curves and petite legs you're just out of luck or you have to hem them and I rarely do that. I need to learn how to sew, but that's a different post.

Also I finally have a picture of me wearing my WHERE boots, thank you again to Laura for sending them to me. I have been wearing the heck out of them, as promised. I just finally got around to taking a picture. I get compliments on them and a lot of people want to touch them because they look so different. Thank goodness I don't mind!

OUTFIT: PLEASE EXCUSE MY FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, ITS ALL ABOUT THE SWEATER! THE NOT YOUR EVERDAY SWEATER!

Please excuse my facial expressions! I see all of the other bloggers pictures posts and I try to copy, but the second after this picture was taken I burst out laughing. Now back to the reason for this post, its sweater love. I just love how the buttons, the collar and the lapels are all exaggerated.

At the same time you dont feel like your shape has been swallowed up by the material. The way Aimee G. the genius behind this sweater, kept a womans curves definitely in mind is half of the reason I love it soo much.

Also, POCKETS! A staple of Aimee G. clothing. When you think there's no way pockets could possibly work in such a design she proves you wrong.

Happy Thursday!

OUTFIT : A PLAID DRESS AND IT HAS POCKETS, ITS NOT GRUNGE BUT THAT WORD NEVER SCARED ME!

Photobucket

Grunge with a twist has been the latest trend to hit such publications as Harpers Bazaar, Teen Vogue and Korean Life and Style magazine. The common element is plaid, I admit I had a lot of plaid when I was younger, but am from Seattle and it was more than just a trend to me, but that was a long time ago and I have since discovered that a lot of people shudder (not in the good way) when they hear the word GRUNGE!

Photobucket

So its funny to me when magazines try to reintroduce the trend, by dressing it up. That's what Harpers Bazaar did. They stuck to the essence of the trend in the most literal way case in point - Hello Nirvana shirt! Does this look convince you that grunge is cool!? I read on some message boards, how it lost cool points for trying to do a Kurt Cobain look a like thing, I love message boards, but thats a completely different post.

Photobucket

Plaid, its so versatile and thats why its the main fixture in this post. I dont really wear a lot of it anymore and if I do, I really don't label my style as grunge. I think Seattle is a little upset that we got stuck with that trend, that turned into a lifestyle that we would like to forget. Serioulsy we really don't walk around all grunged out.

Teen Vogue even labeled their ed layout as "Finding Nirvana" but to me this whole camping trip look plays more on the bohemian lifestyle than grunge. The difference, not dirty enough. If you look up the word Grunge the first definition to pop up is : filth, dirt! It doesn't get better after that - next definition: somebody who looks dirty, unkempt, or otherwise unsavory.

No wonder the word Grunge in any sort of fashion sense scares people away. I am just glad that plaid can be dressed up and dressed down. I shouldn't really be surprised becasue of what it first stood for a hundred years ago, way before punk music or grunge ever came along. But for a girl who first wore it, in the form of a skirt for private school and then as a uniform for alternative music, its funny for me to see it styled in such a way as it is below.

Photobucket

Korean Life and Style Magazine, Grunge.. where?

Photobucket

I had to add this, if you are new to my blog then you probably don't know that my guilty pleasure is Gossip Girl. Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick are by far my favorites . They were recently featured in the Asked Enquired campaign. Plaid elegance, shouldnt be a surprise because of its history, but it still stood out to me so I had to include it.

Photobucket

I personally haven't worn plaid head to toe since I was young, but when I saw this Aimee G. dress I couldn't help myself, I had to try it on. It's form fitting, has pockets and like nothing I've ever seen. Its not grunge in the slightest, but as a teenager in the 90's its hard for me to make that distinction.

Photobucket

Does the word Grunge scare me? No it just brings back a lot of good memories. To tell you the truth I never really got into the fashion scene then, I was stuck in a school uniform at that time. But I don't think grunge now is alive the way it was in the 90's and at this point in fashion I am pretty sure, even with the recession that this is one trend that won't be making a comeback.
What do you think?

(NYFW) SUSPENDERS SAVED MY LIFE: WHAT I WORE TO THE RACHEL ZOE QVC PARTY!

My love for suspenders is no secret and my love only grew when they saved me from embarassing myself. This black and white dress is something I have worn before, but I remember constantly tugging at it, for fear that it would fall a little low and I would be pulling a Tara Reid. The horror!!!

So when I was getting ready to attend the Rachel Zoe QVC Party(NYFW), I knew this would be the perfect dress, but what about the tugging?

SUSPENDERS!!!

Thinking about my Aimee G. dress and the black/white suspender accessories, it was almost like an hallelujah moment. Not only would I not have any trouble with a falling dress, but also the added touch made it stand out.

I was able to wear the dress I wanted, add a touch of the unexpected, all the while making sure I had no chance of an embarassing moment. I added a black tuxedo jacket and my Alexis Hudson clutch and I was ready to party.

Well I know Kelly Rutherford and Jessica Szohr liked it, ;)

OUTFIT : SEATTLE GOES TO NEW YORK BLUE RUFFLES AND KNEE HIGH BOOTS

New York Fashion Week Seattle Designers @ alixrose

When I was getting ready to go to New York, my first concern was what was I going to wear. I was instantly put at ease when I tapped some of my favorite places.

This is was definitely one of my favorite New York looks. It was the first appearance by my new heeled boots, courtesy of one of my favorite go to boutiques - KiKi Corona. The ruffled top by the lovely Jesica Milton not only made my waist seem small, but the color made it look as if I had hit the tanning salon that day (I hadn't). My Dylan Bag literally just seemed to go with every outfit I wore, but for some reason it just completed this look in the best way.

I am so glad I was able to wear this, it had been raining a few days before, but then the sun came out and this top was the first thing I grabbed.

The best thing is that I was able to represent the Northwest. Jesica Milton a wonderful Seattle designer, Kiki Corona a boutique in West Seattle and Clutch a specialitly designer hand bag store.

Thank you to all of these wonderful people for helping me look my best.

STRIPES,STUDS, A WOOD BRACELET AND THE BOYFRIEND NECKLACE - ITS TUESDAY!

I woke up this morning knowing I had to wear stripes. Why? Well I was heavily inspired by Brad on The Rachel Zoe Project. He was adorably wearing a white and black striped shirt, possibly because he was channeling his excitment for his upcoming Paris trip.

This morning there was no use trying to ignore the breezey fall weather, so for the first time in months I slipped on some black trousers. Still thinking of Brad, I reached for my black and green hooded top and because of the V-neck I knew this would be the perfect instance to highlight my new boyfriend necklace. I was introduced to www.kentonbeadworks.com through a friend and instantly fell for this piece. She has some other pieces that I am loving right now and those will be popping up in some future posts.

Don't get distracted by my eyelashes, more on that in an upcoming post. Back to the necklace, its sterling silver and a simple side profile design, but its just the perfect kinda classic mix, I look for.

On the boyfriend style kick I added my boyfriend vest to the mix, I just needed some color. Yes, I know my top is green, but with black pants and a black vest I was feeling blacked out.

You may recognize my skinny red studded belt from an earlier post, no - Well I was sporting it as a bracelet then. I just added some silver bracelets, but to round out the texture of my look I added a wooden bracelet.

Thank you to Brad for inspiring this look and to Keaton Beads for helping me round out my boyfriend style look.
