Fall Must Have: OXFORDS - Have Me Dreaming Of Fall Outfits!

At 4'11 I try to stay away from flat shoes, but even I need a break from heels. This summer I spent at least 2 days a week in my black and white Keds, they were good to me. Fall of course has come a little early to Seattle, its raining as I write this post. So this of course got me thinking about what kind of flat shoes will look good for work and play this fall... Oxfords instantly came to mind.

Photobucket
The fun thing about them and what is illustrated in these photos is that the sophisticated shoes have a lot of personality. They can go with fun flirty dresses, jeans, blazers and slacks. They stand out in an understated way.

I used to buy shoes because they would go with an outfit I already had, but these shoes make me think about clothes that I need to buy.... the little black dress, the leopard tights, the hounds tooth skirt and the military coat. It's funny how all of these pieces are so different but Oxford shoes will look fabulous with all of them.

These are on my wish list at Aldo.

I won't be wearing flats 7 days a week, but the few days I do I want some good looking shoes!

WILL THE CAPE BE ON YOUR MUST HAVE LIST FOR FALL?

What do superheroes and Little Red Riding Hood have in common? The Cape. I know its been hard not to miss the return of the cape, in fashion editorials, celebrities and on the racks at some of your favorite shops. You will see in the following inspirational trend images below that the cape can have a certain attitude depending on your look - the urban/bohemian/sophisticated woman - will it be making it on to your must have fall list?

Truthfully I don't know if it will be on mine. I tried one on at Zara this past weekend and maybe it was the jeans and top I was wearing, but for some reason it looked like I had just thrown a big blanket over me, not a flattering look on me or anyone for that matter. I do believe that just like any coat that it may take time to find the right one, but when you do it could be a friend for the cold fall days ahead.

See For Yourself: Fashion + Technology = Beautiful Bracelets

Photobucket

Jingle Jangle me oh my - These words are currently making up some kind of song running through my head. But it did get me thinking how much I really do miss the jingle jangle of my bracelets. I am the person that you can hear walking behind you because I have 5 or more bracelets on. Their beautiful noise once put a bounce in my step.. but times I have changed. Desk life has left my beloved bracelets in my jewel box at home.

Photobucket

You know how it is, typing, drinking tea, writing notes, talking with your hands - the jingle jangle of the bracelets became annoying. Not only that but their weight and their sized made them uncomfortable when you typed. What can a girl do? Well this girl decided to take the bracelets off - then I had a thought - Cuffs or thin bracelets. We all have a light bulb moment and this was mine, thank you to Nervous System on Etsy.
Photobucket

The design was what caught my eye - tree branches, skeletal - what is it? That question alone made me excited, I love pieces that can lead to conversations.

Photobucket
"Nervous System is an experimental design firm that uses new technologies to reinterpret natural phenomena. Instead of designing individual objects, we write computer programs that detail a design process generating a myriad of designs." via thier website .

Photobucket

Yes a computer program created this.. as a girl who lives most of her life behind a computer I gave it instant cool points.

Fashion + Technology = beauty that you can wear!

Are you a bracelet person?

Sequined Goosebumps.

Photobucket

Sequins + light jeans or any jeans = goosebumps.

Fanciness meets casual is a favorite mix of style for me and sequins is always a go to.I have to say I've never seen a sequined poncho and even though I have some very particular thoughts on ponchos - I want this!

This beautiful sequined bag "Calling for Rain" spoke to me as soon as I saw it load on the page. It pretty much said, "You can't live without me" - and its right.
This will be mine soon!

Head Pieces That Are Fun & Sexy! In No Time You Will Be Hopelessly Devoted To These!

Photobucket

Yesterday I realized I don't wear enough hair art. Sometimes a regular headband dressed up with a bow or design can feel a little too young for me. I am at the weird age where I ask myself, is this too young for me? - but thats another blog post. In my effort to find something grown up and fun art pieces I came across Hopelessly Devoted.

Photobucket
First of all a pinwheel, an accordian and a heart are whimsical shapes, but Hopelessly Devoted somehow makes them a little sexy.

Photobucket

This isn't actually something I would wear to work, but anyone of these would be fun for Happy Hours,on a date or just to add a little grown up style to a favorite outfit.

Do you wear hair any hair art?

TREND: THE MINI BLAZER - THE LOOK THAT CAN GO FROM SUMMER TO FALL!

Photobucket

Blazers are one of my favorite outfit staples for any season. This summer I have been throwing my favorite blazer over dresses, tanks and shorts. Mostly I have been wearing them into the office. It gives me the opportunity to enjoy my summer tanks in a work setting. Its funny how a top is not work appropriate until you put a blazer on. Also I have been sitting in an A/C building that only keeps me cool until I hit outside, but thanks to my blazer I can battle the heat with the tank its hiding.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

My favorite blazer this summer was a mini blazer I picked up at a thrift store. I thought it was cute, but little did I know it would become my best friend. It was a fun take on the classic blazer and went perfect with everything. What a life saver when the hot day turned into a cool night.
Photobucket

Even though my grey and white blazer will transition well into fall with a little layering, I have my eye set on a black mini blazer. The black blazer goes from work to a night out in a snap, but the mini blazer adds a fashionable twist on such a classic look.

Your Bag Is Sooo Big! Would You Ever Bling It Up?

I am currently on business trip in Chicago.... wish I had more time to explore the city -but there's always next time. Anyways I have to carry my laptop with me everywhere I go, so my bag litterally feels this big to me.

Photobucket

Of course if this was my bag I wouldn't care how big it is...sign me up!

Photobucket

Would you ever bling out your day bag?

Thanks to Leah & Bliss you can have a large handbag that's already bejeweled or you can have your favorite bag customized.

A Celebrity Look That I Can Actually Wear - Thank You Leighton Meester!

Photobucket

It's rare that I find a look on a celebrity that I can actually see myself wearing. When I come across street style looks from a celebrity I will swoon over a pair of shoes, covet a bag and take tips from the way they style it. In truth I can rarely afford what they are wearing and sometimes the way they style it can even be a little much for my everyday wear,so when I came across this simple chic look that Leighton Meester was wearing, it was like an hallelujah moment.

Photobucket

This effortless look can fit any situation.. work, meetings, lunch with the girls or a day of serious shopping. Also I know that I can find a dress like this in a price range that I, the everyday girl can afford. No need to wish for a fairy godmother!

Photobucket

I know its no secret that I am a Leighton Meester fan and I am just happy that once again she rocks out another awesome look.

old navy and target

Happy Monday.
Who's also looking for new shirt dresses to add to their closet??

Updated: To answer NYC LU - I have a short shirt dress as well and Ive usually worn it with leggings or skinny jeans. If you still want to wear it as a dress light material boys shorts look really good underneath it and don't look like underwear. :)

TIGHTS IN YOUR PURSE & WHAT I WOULD DO TO MAKE THESE LOOKS WORK IN SEATTLE!

Should you be carrying an extra pair of tights in your purse? This morning I wish I was! My plan to wear a fun flirty dress was quickly thrown out when the clouds and breeze hit my legs. Brrrrr! Since my inspiration has been street style with not your average skirt appeal, I stood in my bedroom and tried not to panic at the thought of missing my bus because I didn't know what to wear. If I had a pair of tights in my purse I wouldn't be wearing jeans right now.
Some of my favorite looks and here's what I would do to make them SEATTLE friendly!

Love this look, the feather skirt paired with a tank could easily be a cocktail/HH look. In Seattle all I would need is a blazer and some tights.
A hat with a sequin skirt, fun and no sun needed. It would be nice, but not required. Seattle friendly just add a jean jacket and some black tights.

I think this is a lace dress and the casual military trendy coat with a belted waist, ah so perfect. Seattle Friendly - I think those are suede shoes, so just switch those out to rain proof and this would work!

This is just a peek into what my mind runs through when looking at street style sites! I always try to figure out how it would work in Seattle, the things I do for the city I love.

TREND: THE BEST KIND OF MADNESS!

Photobucket

This breaks every jewerly rule and I like it. The saying goes" put your jewelry on and right before you leave take a look in the mirror and take one piece off." Well J.Crew is not only ignoring that but its laughing in its face.
So put your jewelry on and instead of taking one piece off put three more on!!!

WEAR SUMMER INDOORS WITH PASTELS!

When I try to bring up pastels as a style choice, I'm usually greeted with the same look - a frown. I seemed to miss the memo, when did pastels get a bad rap?

I have fallen back in love with blue and yellow. The combination compeletly evokes the summer sun and ocean. So if I'am in doors typing away, at least I can channel the summer with these colors.

Are you a fan of pastels?

WOULD YOU OR WOULDN'T YOU: BLUE LIPSTICK!

Align Center
I am a pretty in pink lipstick girl at the moment, but I can't say I'm not intrigued by the blue lipstick that's been popping up in fashion editorials. Are you a risk taker with make up, is this something that you would try?

Is this trend only fit for a fashion editorial ?
